Home Insurance

Home Insurance includes Buildings and Content Covers

Now you have your lovely new home, it’s important to ensure that your belongings are protected meaning that you are able to afford to repair or replace them if they are lost, stolen or damaged. In addition, you can (and must) ensure you cover the building itself in case there is a flood, fire, storm damage, etc.

Home insurance is broken down into two areas – Buildings Cover and Contents Cover.

Buildings Cover is compulsory when taking out a mortgage and needs to be in place by the time you exchange contracts. This means that if there is damage caused to your house such as a fire or flood, you would have the funds to repair it. Some policies have lots of important extras (sometimes included as standard, sometimes not) which are really important to consider. For example, if you have major damage to your house and couldn’t live there for a couple of months whilst work is being carried out, some policies will pay for you and your family to live in alternative accommodation.

Contents Cover protects your personal belongings from events like fire, theft, loss or damage. There are additional benefits with Contents Cover also (again, some are optional, and some are included). For example, you can ensure that your belongings are covered outside your house (such as while on holiday) or you can include cover for damage caused through an accident.

We arrange this kind of insurance, so get in touch so that we can explain how it all works and provide you with a bespoke solution tailored to your own circumstances.
