Insurance at TMG

“Fun is like life insurance; the older you get, the more it costs.”
Kin Hubbard

Why Insurance?

Insurance is unusual in that it’s something you buy in the hope of never actually using it! As such, it can often be difficult to justify the cost which is why it is important to discuss the different areas you can protect and why with an adviser. Many people understand the need for taking out life insurance when they have a mortgage, but are unaware of the other areas that need protecting; areas that you are far more likely to need covering than you may think.

For example, how would you cope if you were off work due to illness or injury and not receiving sick pay? According to L&G’s most recent annual “Deadline to Breadline” report, on average people think they could survive for 60 days without an income, when the reality is that the average household is just 19 days from running out of money to cover the essential bills. The truth is that even if you do have savings, they will soon disappear, but the bills won’t.

Good to know

Many insurance providers have additional services that are included for free as part of the insurance policy. For example, you could have access to a GP 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week via phone or video call. This alone provides tremendous peace of mind to those of us with young children who seem to wait until 3am to become ill! Other services include annual health screening checks, mental health counselling services, physiotherapy, second medical opinions, fracture cover and many other benefits.
